Save screenplays, PDFs, and automatic backups to a physical folder on your device. Protects your work against browser cache clearing.
Protect your screenplays with external local folder backups
Choose a folder on your device for screenplay backups and exported files. Your work is also saved in this browser when supported. Keeping an external backup helps protect against browser data loss.
Selecting a folder is optional. You can change or disconnect this folder anytime in Editor Preferences.
How your work is persisted and protected
Your screenplays are saved continuously in your browser as you write. For added security, you can also download project backups or save them to a connected folder.
If you clear your browser history or reset site data, browser-saved work can be removed. Connecting a local folder saves physical .afilmby backup files directly to your computer so your stories remain safe.
Backups saved on your computer could be lost if that hardware fails. We recommend copying your project backups to an external drive or cloud storage periodically.
Supported browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave) allow direct folder saving. In other browsers, you can download backups anytime and restore them using Import.
